Laboratory Hazardous Waste Treatment

Classification of hazardous chemical waste in laboratories:

  (1) Organic waste liquids

   ① Oils and fats

    Waste oils and fats generated in laboratories,such as lamp oil, light oil, turpentine, lubricating oil, etc...

   ② Halogen containing organic solvents

           Waste solvents generated in laboratories that contain aliphatic halogen compounds such as chloroform,

chloromethane, dichloromethane, and carbon tetrachloride; Or aromatic halogen compounds,such as chlorobenzene,

benzyl chloride, etc...

   ③ Non halogenated organic solvents

      Waste inorganic solvents generated by laboratories

(2)Inorganic waste liquid:

 ① Waste liquid containing heavy metals

     Waste liquid produced in the laboratory containing any type of heavy metal

(such as iron, cobalt, copper, manganese, lead, silver, zinc, magnesium, etc.)

 ② Waste liquid containing other salts

 ③ Waste acid solution

 ④ Waste alkali solution

(3)Toxic waste liquid:

① Mercury containing waste liquid

② Arsenic containing waste liquid

③ Cyanide containing waste liquid

④ Cadmium containing waste liquid

⑤ Containing various heavy metal chemicals

(4)Laboratory solid waste

 ① Plastic waste

 such as gloves, gun tips, droppers, straws, test tubes, culture bottles (dishes), empty bottles, etc;

  Sharp instrument waste

  such as needles, scissors, broken glassware, etc;

 ③ Paper based cotton waste

 such as cotton balls, wiping paper, etc;
